Students from Mechanical Engineering High School “Kosmaj” in Sopot visited Copper Mill Sevojno as part of a two-day excursion whose final destination was Zlatibor. The professional visit to the factory was an integral part of the excursion program, in line with the students’ educational profiles.
The school has 126 students organized into seven classes, with education conducted through two vocational programs – CNC machine programming technician and locksmith-welder. In line with these fields of study, a tour of the tooling department and machine shop at VBS was organized, allowing students to gain insight into modern production processes and the operation of industrial systems.
A total of 50 students visited Copper Mill Sevojno, accompanied by teachers and the school principal.
For the students from Sopot, this type of visit carries particular importance, considering that their town does not have an industrial system of the size and capacity of Copper Mill Sevojno, but rather mainly smaller private companies. For this reason, firsthand exposure to the operations of a large industrial facility represents a valuable experience and an important part of their vocational education, emphasized the school principal, Snežana Ristić.
“We do not have a company of this scale in Sopot, which is precisely why visits like this are extremely important for us. We have worked for a long time to involve businesses in the dual education system, and we still face challenges when it comes to finding companies that can provide students with adequate practical training. That is why students from Užice and Sevojno are in a great advantage, as they could complete their professional practice at Copper Mill Sevojno. It is immediately clear that the equipment and technologies used here represent industry standards. Such an environment gives students not only additional knowledge, but also confidence in their work. This has certainly been a highly valuable experience for our students,” emphasized Principal Snežana Ristić, expressing gratitude to the hosts for their warm welcome, cooperation, and hospitality.
She also particularly highlighted the patience and helpfulness of the company’s skilled workers and engineers, who answered numerous questions from the interested students.
