In the first quarter of this year, Copper Mill Sevojno became a member of the International Wrought Copper Council (IWCC), the leading international organization bringing together major producers of primary copper and semi-finished products made of copper and copper alloys from around the world.

The International Wrought Copper Council (IWCC) is governed by its member companies through the General Assembly, which is held once a year. This year’s Assembly was attended by Desko Nikitović, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and majority owner of the company, and Željko Subotić, Deputy Sales Director of Copper Mill Sevojno.

Founded in 1953, the International Wrought Copper Council today brings together around 150 companies worldwide, including members from Europe, Japan, China, India, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States. The organization actively cooperates with its members through industry advocacy, the preparation of sector reports and statistics, as well as through the exchange of information and best practices. Throughout the year, IWCC activities are carried out through the work of the Executive Committee and specialized committees, with the support of the organization’s expert team, while the IWCC President and members of the Board of Directors are elected by representatives of companies from the copper industry.

As a Producer member of the International Wrought Copper Council, Valjaonica bakra Sevojno gains access to a wide range of statistical databases and market intelligence, including:

  • data on global production and demand for copper semi-finished products, categorized by product type and by country/region;
  • annual copper demand analyses categorized by end-use segments and markets;
  • a global trade database for copper semi-finished products and copper alloys, searchable by market and product type;
  • short-term forecasts of refined copper demand on the global market (up to two years ahead), published twice a year;
  • data and market analyses related to copper scrap, including demand trends and developments in this segment.

As an organization representing the global copper semi-finished products industry, the International Wrought Copper Council advocates for the interests of its members in international forums and before policymakers. This includes cooperation with organizations such as the International Copper Association, International Copper Study Group, International Council on Mining and Metals, Eurometaux, London Metal Exchange, and CESCO.

The IWCC also represents the interests of the copper semi-finished products and copper alloys industry in communication with regulatory bodies and decision-makers within the European Union. At the same time, it initiates and supports initiatives aimed at addressing key industry issues. These include, among others, the Lead-Free Brass Initiative, as well as the Copper Plumbing Tube Promotional Campaign, aimed at preventing the replacement of copper with plastic in plumbing systems.

Membership in the International Wrought Copper Council represents another confirmation of the international reputation of Copper Mill Sevojno and an important step in further aligning the company with global trends and modern standards in the copper processing industry.
